Summary:  Today fire activity continued in Crandall Canyon. Spot fires from the past 24hr activity have continued to hold, and have had little to no spread. The Crandall Mine memorial continues to remain well protected and untouched by the fire, and firefighters will begin to mop up any remaining heat around the memorial area. In addition to mop up, crews will be securing the road above Crandall Mine Memorial.

The Red Flag Warning in effect the past three days ended last night as a cold front came through. The passing cold front will bring lower temperatures today in the mid 70s, calmer winds, and higher relative humidity. Some areas of remaining heat and smoke on the fire remain inaccessible due to steep cliff faces but also pose little threat of spread and fire growth. Firefighters will continue to monitor these areas.

Another crew will be camped out at a new spike camp on the northeast potion of the fire to minimize travel exposure and time. Crews will continue to construct containment line around the fire, specifically from Little Bear to the north along the fire’s edge. Additional objectives include securing the road above Crandall Mine Memorial, continued mop up, and patrolling for remaining smoke.

Today the fire will transition to a Type 3 Management Team. The Type 2 and Type 3 teams will be meeting today to ensure
