Cove Creek Fire Update – July 25, 2018

Summary: The Central Utah Type III Incident Management Team are expected to implement the planned firing operations today on the Cove Creek Fire. An increase of smoke may be visible along I-15 and I-70. If traveling in the area please proceed with caution and DO NOT STOP ALONG THE ROADWAY. An
area road and trail closure has been put into effect as of 12:00 P.M. on July 23, 2018.

Start Date: 7/17/2018

Cause: Lightning

Size: 195 acrres

Containment: 0%

Location: 7 miles east of the I-70/I-15 Interchange, near Shingle Creek in Sevier County

Jurisdiction: Beaver Ranger District, Fishlake National Forest

Fire Behavior: Moderate fire behavior, group torching, and short uphill runs

Structures Threatened: None

Total Resources: 269

Closures: Temporary road closures are now in effect for the following areas:
