Cove Creek Fire Update – August 1, 2018
Summary: Today crews will be monitoring the secured fire lines for any area that may contain hot spots and working on those areas if needed. An increase of interior growth is possible in the Cove Creek drainage, but will also be monitored and addressed if it is affecting the secure fire line perimeter. Smoke from the interior growth may be visible today. This is a full suppression fire that utilizes indirect fire line tactics.
The current closure order will be rescinded when there is no longer a threat to public safety.

Cause: Lightning
Size: 2,586 acres
Fuels: Mixed conifer and mahogany timber stand with heavy component of dead and down
Containment: 43 percent
Total Resources: 233
Location: 7 miles east of the I-70/I-15 Interchange, near Shingle Creek in Sevier County
Jurisdiction: Beaver Ranger District, Fishlake National Forest
Fire Behavior: Moderate with short crown runs. Backing with some group torching.
Structures: None
