FIRE INFORMATION UPDATE
September 6, 2018

Time: 8:00 a.m. Cause: Human, arson
Size: 536 acres Percent Contained: 48%
Date Started: September 3, 2018 Location: 6.5 miles northeast of Coalville
Total personnel: 89
Resources: 3 engines, 1 helicopter, 1 helitack crew, 3 handcrews
Cooperator: Utah Division of Forestry, Fire and State Lands
Status: Yesterday crews constructed and secured line around the north and south flanks of the fire, obtaining 48% containment. Today crews will continue line construction around the perimeter of the fire and increase mop up operations, with a goal of obtaining 100% by the end of shift. The Echo Creek Ranches area is located four miles east of the fire and is no longer in pre-evacuation status. The one lane eastbound I-80 closure from milemarker 169 to 171 will be lifted today. Concerns are the incoming thunderstorms and strong winds. Challenges are steep terrain and I-80 traffic.
Fire investigators determined the cause to be arson. They are looking for suspects. Anyone with information should contact the Summit County Sheriff’s Department.
