Summary: Firefighters are making excellent progress as the Horse Valley Fire is expected to be 100% contained by 8pm today. No new fire growth has occurred as forward progression is now stopped. Crews will remain onscene for the next couple of days to fully extinguish remaining hot spots and ensure there are no flare-ups to present future control problems. This is the final update unless significant changes occur.

Reported: Friday, July 20, 2018 at 7p.m.

Location: Approximately 10 miles southwest of Minersville, Utah.

Jurisdiction: Bureau of Land Management.

Fire Size: Estimated at 1,300 acres. (Note: one acre is equivalent to one football field)

Cause: Lightning.

Fire Behavior: Fire progression is stopped and hot spots remain the primary focus.

Closures: All roads leading into the fire will require a fire personnel escort to ensure public safety.

Structures Threatened: No structures threatened.

Percent Contained: 100%

Fuels: Pinyon and Juniper, Brush, and Grass.

Fire Crews/Resources: 5 Fire Engines, 1 Dozer, 1 Squad, 2 Water Tenders, 3 Handcrews, and 1 Air Attack Platform. Approximately 80 personnel are assigned to the fire.

Evacuations: No evacuations.

Injuries: No injuries reported.
