CROOKED CREEK FIRE

FIRE INFORMATION UPDATE

July 25, 2018

 

Time: 10 a.m.                                                               Cause: Lightning

Size: 137 acres                                                            Percent Contained: 81%

Date Started: July 18, 2018                                        Location: East of Milburn, North of Fairview

Number of Personnel: 181

Resources: 3 Engines, 3 Hotshot Crews, 3 Type two Initial Attack Crews, 2 helicopters, 1 water tender.

Cooperators: Utah Division of Forestry, Fire and State Lands, USDA Forest Service

Yesterday:  The Crooked Creek Fire has reached 81% containment. Crews continue to mitigate possible rollout material hazards, such as burning logs, that could result in fire spread. In addition to preventing fire spread from burning, rolling material, crews continue to secure containment line by putting out heat in individual spot fires and along the fire perimeter.

Today:  Firefighters will continue work to improve and secure lines, and hold the fire. Drier weather conditions are expected to set in on Thursday.

Current Closure Order:  The Manti-La Sal National Forest has issued an order closing the fire area, Forest Roads 138, 1178, 1048, 1049; Forest Trail 0053 from the Forest Boundary to the junction with Forest Road 0138, Forest Trail 048 from the Forest Boundary to the junction with Forest Road 1178. The closure is in place to prevent potential injury to the public and for firefighter safety during fire operations. You can read the order at: https://go.usa.gov/xUn98

Safety:  Be cautious when driving in the area. Remember fire restrictions are in place on the Forest.
