Cove Creek Fire Update – August 6, 2018

Summary: This will be the last update for the Cove Creek Fire unless significant activity occurs. Over the weekend crews continued to construct direct line on hot spots. Today, crews are working on extending creek containment lines to the south. They will also continue repairing fire lines on the north end of the fire. The fire will transition back to the Beaver Ranger District on Wednesday August 8, 2018.

Start Date: 7/17/2018

Cause: Lightning

Location: 7 miles east of the I-70/I-15 Interchange, near Shingle Creek in Sevier County

Jurisdiction: Beaver Ranger District, Fishlake National Forest

Containment: 60 percent

Fuels: Mixed conifer and mahogany timber stand with heavy component of dead and down

Fire Behavior: Minimal, creeping, smoldering

Structures: None

Total resources: 65

Closures: Temporary road closures are now in effect for the following areas:
