FIRE SUMMARY

Yesterday, weather conditions were again favorable, allowing firefighters to continue improvements along perimeter and interior fire lines. Today, high wind gusts in the fire area have the potential to cause restarts in remaining hotspots.

Fire lines along the Hwy 6 corridor are prepped for rehab and fire equipment has been removed.   Fire crews made good progress, on the east, southeast and north sides of the fire, conducting rehab and reseeding operations to return fire lines to a more natural state. Mop-up operations continued along Skyline road to address hot spots and crews continued to improve lines and conduct chipping operations along North Fork road and interior fire breaks.

Today crews will continue suppression efforts, prep indirect fire lines and conduct mop-up and rehab operations as needed along the perimeter and interior of the fire.

Open

Recent weather allowed crews to make great progress on the north and east region of the fire.  Local officials, along with the Northern Rockies Incident Management Team 6 were able to reduce the closure and evacuation footprints surrounding the fire.  Due to this reduction, Starvation Road, the southern and western areas adjacent to the fire, including Bear Ridge Road, Fish Creek Ridge Road and Skyline road south of the Bear Ridge Road junction, were opened at 6:00 AM this morning.

Closed

North Fork Road is closed along the western fire edge and Skyline Road from Hwy 6 south to the Bear Ridge Road juncture. Road blocks are still in place at the closed roads and two guards will remain at the north and south Starvation access points through 7:00 PM tonight, to provide information to forest visitors.
