Pole Creek Fire Update 9-10-2018

Spanish Fork, Utah, September 10, 2018 – The Pole Creek fire, was reported on September 6, 2018 and has been determined as lightning caused.  The fire is located in the Nebo Loop area south of Summit trail #113 on the Spanish Fork Ranger District in Juab County and is approximately 25 acres in size, growth is expected to increase to approximately 50 acres by the end of the day.

Firefighters were able to successfully initiate firing operations yesterday afternoon and will continue firing operations over the next several days if conditions remain favorable. Their objective is to clear heavy brush, and ladder fuels while also working to minimize fire spread to the East of Forest Service Road 015 (Nebo Loop Rd), South and West of Trail # 113 (Summit trail) and North of Forest Service Road #016 (Pole Canyon). The area is not closed to recreation, but Forest users please be cautious and avoid the fire area.

Firefighters are using confine and contain suppression techniques to minimize risk to firefighters while allowing the fire to reduce heavy fuel loading and enhance wildlife habitat. Fire personnel will continue to monitor the fire.

Smoke and flames may be visible from Mount Nebo Scenic Byway and Devil’s Kitchen day-use area, please do not report.
