Pole Canyon Fire Information, August 10, 2018
Firefighters have been using hand ignitions to burn fuels on the north end of the fire over the past two days. The firing operations are designed to contain the fire within the established management area. Operations are expected to continue on the north end of the fire through Saturday.
The burning operations have resulted in increased acreage being reported. In the area effected by burning operation the fire was running, with group tree torching, otherwise the fire was creeping through ground fuels. Smoke from the fire may be seen from various locations and communities.
The Pole Canyon Fire is being managed under a confine and monitor suppression strategy to provide an opportunity for fire to return to its role on the ecosystem. In doing so, management actions will be used to reduce forest fuels, enhance aspen, and improving forest health and resiliency.
As with all fires the number one objective in managing the Pole Canyon Fire is to provide for public and firefighter safety.
