FIRE INFORMATION UPDATE

September 2, 2018

This will be the last update unless fire conditions significantly change.

Time: 8:00 a.m.                                                          Cause: Human

Size: 783 acres                                                            Percent Contained: 50%

Date Started: August 30, 2018                                   Location: North of Liberty/Eden

Resources: 9 engines, 4 handcrews, 1 helicopter, 3 water tender, 1 helitack crew.

Cooperator: Utah Division of Forestry, Fire and State Lands

Status:  Yesterday crews established line around the southeast, southwest and northwest flanks of the fire, increasing containment to 50%. The pre-evacuation order for Powder Mountain Ski Resort was lifted. Firefighters are continuing to construct and improve a containment line around the parameter of the fire. Helicopters are continuing to drop buckets of water to suppress internal heat. Spot fires pose a risk for spread.

Objectives:  Objectives remain the same as yesterday. Firefighter and public safety is number one. Firefighters will continue work to keep the fire north and west of Broadmouth Canyon, east of Avon Divide Road, and south of Public Grove.

North Fork Fire: The North Fork Fire is unmanned but will be monitored today. The cause of the fire is unknown.

Safety:  Be cautious when driving in the area. Do not stop on roads.

Smoke will be visible from Liberty and Eden areas today.
