FIRE INFORMATION UPDATE

Size: 783 acres Percent Contained: 12%
Date Started: August 30, 2018 Location: North of Liberty/Eden
Resources: 6 engines, 6 handcrews, 3 helicopters, 3 water tender, 1 dozer, 2 helitack crews.
Cooperators: Utah Division of Forestry, Fire and State Lands
Status: Yesterday crews established line around the southeast flank of the fire, increasing containment to 10%. More resources arrived. Restrictions and evacuations were lifted on both Pineview Reservoir and Powder Mountain Ski Resort. Residence of Powder Mountain Ski Resort are under pre-evacuation order today. Dozers and firefighters are continuing to construct and improve a containment line around the parameter of the fire. Helicopters are continuing to drop buckets of water on the fire. The fire is burning in thick fuel primarily grass, sage and oak. Spot fires pose a risk for spread.
Objectives: Objectives remain the same as yesterday. Firefighter and public safety is number one. Firefighters will continue work to keep the fire north and west of Broadmouth Canyon, east of Avon Divide Road, and south of Public Grove.
Evacuations: Powder Mountain Ski Resort is under pre-evacuation. Be prepared to leave if fire conditions change.
North Fork Fire: A fire started around 3:00 pm yesterday afternoon in the North Fork area, just miles from the Avon Fire. Resources from the Avon Fire quickly responded and the fire was contained at 2 acres.
Safety: Be cautious when driving in the area. Do not stop on roads.
