FIRE INFORMATION UPDATE

July 31, 2018

Time: 8:00 a.m.                                                         Cause: Human caused, under investigation

Size: 171 acres                                                           Percent Contained: 56%

Date Started: July 26, 2018                                     Location: Middle Canyon

Number of Personnel: 101

Resources:  1 helicopter, 6 engines, 1 hotshot crews and 2 hand crews

Cooperators: Utah Division of Forestry, Fire and State Lands, USDA Forest Service and North Tooele Fire District and Bureau of Land Management

Yesterday: In the morning crews worked hard to increase containment. There were some mild winds that stirred up a small spot fire (.1 acre) outside of the fire perimeter. The spot was quickly distinguished with ground and air support. There are also a few areas within the fire perimeter that are burning with some visible smoke. These signs of smoke should not be alarming.

Today: The objectives remain the same. Crews will continue work to contain the perimeter of the fire, and be on the look-out for any additional spot fires. The helicopter may be used in areas where there are steep terrain.

Current Closure Order: Middle Canyon and Butterfield Canyon roads.
